Els interessos d’aquest grup de recerca van des de la sistemàtica i l’estudi de l'estructura de les comunitats dels crisomèlids, fins a l’estudi de l’especiació geogràfica i de l’estructura espacial de la diversitat genètica en un marc temporal (filogeografia), així com a la investigació de processos biològics com la hibridació, la unisexualitat o les associacions planta-hoste, sempre des del punt de vista de l’evolució. En els darrers anys, el grup de recerca s’ha centrat a estudiar les interaccions biològiques, incloent-hi l’estudi de la dieta dels escarabats herbívors, la organització de les comunitats d’escarabats i les seves relacions simbiòtiques amb bacteris.
