PhD Student at Insect Reproduction, and the Nutritional Signals in Insects Labs
Application deadline: 10th of October 2025.
The Insect Reproduction, and the Nutritional Signals in Insects Labs, aims to investigate the role of small non-coding RNAs, specifically piRNAs, in regulating insect oogenesis by targeting mRNAs essential to ensure oocyte growth and maturation. Furthermore, the results obtained would pave the way for designing piRNA-based insecticides, which would be strictly specific and environmentally friendly.
PhD position: We are seeking a candidate to develop this Ph.D. project. The selected individual will be trained in diverse tools and methodologies within the lab. A significant part of the research will involve wet lab work, utilizing basic tools from a molecular biology laboratory (real-time PCR; fluorescent microscopy; RNAi...). However, the student will also be involved in bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic libraries.
