Candidate to apply for a FPU PhD grant at the EvolMet Laboratory
Insects have undergone radical evolution in their development since their origination from arthropod ancestors, such that three types of metamorphosis have emerged: ametaboly, hemimetaboly and holometaboly. Therefore, our project aims to unveil the molecular mechanisms that controls metamorphosis. To answer this question we combine endocrinology, genetics, cell signaling and biochemistry applied to different model organisms such as Drosophila, Tribolium and Thermobia. The application will be open from 16 January to 3 February 2017, but preference will be given to applicants who get in touch before 27 January. More information: Job offer.
Candidate to apply for a FPU PhD grant at the Insect Reproduction Lab
The group studies insect oogenesis to identify the signals that determine the right time to initiate growth and maturation of the ovarian follicle, how this maturation is carried out and which changes occurred throughout evolution in the different insect ovary types. The project proposed aims to identify which hormonal and cellular mechanisms regulates the maturation of ovarian follicles. The application will be open from 16 January to 3 February 2017, but preference will be given to applicants who get in touch before 14 January. More information: Job offer.
Candidate to apply for a FPU PhD grant at the Nutritional signals in insects Lab
The group tries to identify how insects can use the different Insulin-like Peptides (ILPs) to efficiently regulate growth, cell proliferation, longevity, regulation of circulating sugars, reproduction, or cancer, in which the insulin receptor pathway is involved. The proposed project (Insect insulins, growth and reproduction) consists on the study of the role of different ILPs in some of the most important processes regulated by this route, particularly in growth and in production of reproduction hormones. The application will be open from 16 January to 3 February 2017, but preference will be given to applicants who get in touch before 14 January. More information: Job offer.
