IBE sot-director and researcher Salvador Carranza has been highlighted for having one of the PLOS ONE most-cited papers of 2018 and also 2017.

In particular, his study Diversity, distribution and conservation of the terrestrial reptiles of Oman (Sauropsida, Squamata) is among the 10 more influential studies of 2018 in the field of ecology.

His study Cryptic diversity in Ptyodactylus (Reptilia: Gekkonidae) from the northern Hajar Mountains of Oman and the United Arab Emirates uncovered by an integrative taxonomic approach is among the 10% of most cited papers of 2017.
