Science magazine has chosen the study on the reconstruction of a Denisovan girl among 12 candidates for the biggest scientific breakthrough of 2019.

The study, led by the Hebrew University, has been participated by IBE researcher Tomàs Marquès-Bonet and member of his team.

Finally, the first black hole image has been selected as the Breakthrough of the year by the Journal. Still, the study of the Denisovan girl reconstruction has been awarded with the People's Choice.

For readers of Science online, this was the year of the Denisovans. Science invited readers to vote on 12 candidates for the breakthrough. A first round of voting narrowed the choices to four, and a second round, in which more than 34,000 votes were cast, determined the People’s Choice.

The study has also been selected among the Top 10 stories of 2019 acording to Science News: https://www.sciencenews.org/article/top-science-news-stories-2019-yir
